Nail Extension Accessories
Nail Extension Accessories
Quick answer: nail extension accessories include Nail Forms, Dual Forms, Gel Tips, glass fibres, pinching tools and clips. They are not all used together: each accessory belongs to a specific technique or structural requirement.
Which accessory should you choose?
- Nail Forms: adhesive forms positioned under the free edge to shape an extension with gel or acrygel.
- Dual Forms: reusable moulds in which the product is distributed before being placed on the nail.
- Gel Tips: pre-shaped supports available in different shapes and sizes, used with a compatible application system.
- Glass fibres: can be used for repairs, local reinforcement or specific nail-extension techniques.
- Pinching tools and clips: used to control the curvature when the technique and product allow it.
Nail Forms or Dual Forms: what is the difference?
With a Nail Form, the product is shaped directly over the form so the technician builds the length and shape during application. With a Dual Form, the product is distributed inside the mould, which is then positioned on the nail and removed after curing.
The choice depends on the structure, desired shape, technique and product being used.
When to use glass fibres
Glass fibres are not required in every nail extension. They may be used to repair a sidewall, reinforce a specific area or perform a particular technique. The fibres must be fully embedded in the product without leaving exposed strands.
For more information, see the guide to Fiberglass Gel application and function.
How to choose the shape and size
- Assess the width, curvature and direction of the natural nail.
- Choose a Nail Form, Dual Form or Gel Tip compatible with the structure you want to create.
- Check that the support does not place pressure on the sidewalls.
- Check front and side alignment before applying the product.
- Adapt the support according to the selected technique and protocol.
Dual Form guides
See the theory guide to Dual Forms and the practical application guide.
Mistakes to avoid
- Using a size that is too narrow or too wide.
- Applying glass fibres without fully embedding them.
- Assuming pinching is mandatory for every gel or technique.
- Changing the curvature without respecting the product's timing and characteristics.
- Confusing Nail Forms, Dual Forms and Gel Tips as if they were the same system.
- Leaving product in contact with the skin or cuticles.
Nail extension accessories FAQ
Are Nail Forms or Dual Forms easier?
It depends on the technique and experience. Nail Forms allow the product to be shaped directly, while Dual Forms use a pre-shaped mould.
Are glass fibres needed for every nail extension?
No. They are used for repairs, reinforcement or specific techniques rather than as a mandatory step.
Are Dual Forms reusable?
Yes, when they remain intact and are cleaned and stored correctly according to the relevant instructions.
Is pinching always necessary?
No. It depends on the technique, structure and product. Some materials or systems do not require this step.
