Nail stamping: everything you need to know

Nail stamping is a nail art technique that allows you to transfer designs engraved on a metal plate directly onto the nail, using a stamper and a specific nail polish. The result resembles the effect of freehand decorations, but with a much simpler and faster procedure, also ideal for beginners.

The technique relies on four fundamental tools:

• stamping plates, which are small steel plates with engraved designs;
• the stamping stamper, the tool that picks up the design from the plate and transfers it to the nail;
• the stamping scraper, useful for distributing and removing excess nail polish from the plate;
• specific stamping polishes, highly pigmented and with an ideal consistency to fill the engravings without smudging. With these tools, even beginners can create complex nail art in minutes.

• The nail structure should already be completed, with a base coat, gel polish, or gel/acrygel.
• Apply the Cactus For You Stamping Polish onto the chosen design on the plate.
• Immediately remove the excess with the Cactus For You Stamping Scraper, holding it at about a 45° angle to the Cactus For You Stamping Plate. About five seconds should pass between applying the polish and transferring it to the nail.
• Pick up the design with the Cactus For You Stamper, using a firm movement from left to right.
• Transfer the design to the nail with light pressure, again moving from left to right.
• Seal everything with a glossy or matte top coat to achieve durable and long-lasting nail art.

The first few times, it probably won't seem so easy, and you might even wonder why nail stamping isn't working. The secret is just one: you need to be fast! About five seconds should pass from the moment you apply the polish to the design, remove the excess with the scraper, and pick it up with the stamper. Then you can focus more calmly on applying the design to the nail.

To make your stamping accessories last a long time, a few simple precautions are enough. The plates are easily cleaned with acetone and a pad, to remove all residue without damaging them.

For the stamper, however, it's important to be more delicate: use an adhesive roller or a piece of tape to remove the nail polish, avoiding degreasers or aggressive products that could ruin the sticky surface.
